5 Soups Better Than Canned

Sure, canned soup is convenient. I’ve even been known to keep a can or two in my desk drawer for a quick go-to lunch. Since the weather is turning colder, I’ve recently discovered how soul satisfying it is to make my own soup at home. They have so much more flavor and texture than canned. I can make a pot on the weekend and portion into serving containers. All I have to do is grab one on the way out the door. Here’s a list of 5 soups that will outshine canned soup any day!

Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup: Nothing is better when it gets cold than a nice warm bowl of chicken, noodle soup.  This quick and easy recipe will make you re-think canned.

Fresh Tomato Soup: I grew up eating canned tomato soup and grilled cheese. It was a quick lunch for my mother to serve us. Now that I’ve made my own homemade tomato soup, I don’t think I could ever go back to canned.

Slow Cooker French Onion Soup: I love the ease of using my slow cooker to make soup. Everything goes in and in a few hours you have soup.

Garden Minestrone: The problem with most canned vegetable/pasta soups is that both the vegetables and pasta are mushy. This minestrone has a wonderful mix of vegetables that will put any canned vegetable soup to shame.

Tex-Mex Chicken Soup: So many canned tex-mex soups lack the actual tex-mex flavor. This homemade version delivers all the flavor anyone could ask for.

Now I just need to decide which one I’ll make to enjoy throughout the week.
