5 Tasty Sides for Your Pancakes

A former boss used to joke that a weekend for me wasn’t complete without a plate of pancakes. It’s true. I love my pancakes! For every holiday or special occasion, my mom made pancakes for my family. Even today, we get them every Christmas, birthday weekend, and whenever we’re all home together (which is very rare).

As I’ve grown older, I’ve become responsible for the side. True, bacon and sausage are great, but I like to keep things interesting, so I’m sharing a few of my favorite side dishes for pancakes. Make these to go with one of our best pancake recipes or our amazing 3-ingredient pancakes. Watch the how-to for those simple pancakes below.

Fruit Medley with Mint and Lime: A simple fruit side is great, but adding a bright, citrusy dressing makes a plain fruit salad even better.

Simple Baked Eggs

Simple Baked Eggs: If you’ve got the time to make your side of eggs a bit more decadent, try this simple baked egg recipe. Bonus: This is the easiest way to get everyone’s eggs done at the same time without any getting cold.

Warm Apple Maple Syrup: This recipe is originally paired with a Ciabatta French Toast, but we won’t mind if you steal it for your pancakes.

mini-frittatas-ham-cheese

Mini Frittatas with Ham and Cheese: If you want something you can make ahead for your pancake breakfast, these mini frittatas are an excellent choice. Bake the night before and refrigerate. Then warm them up in the oven or microwave just before serving your pancakes.

Cinnamon-Blueberry Compote: Another recipe where we’re going to lift a portion of it because it’s so delicious. This compote was designed for a bowl of steel cut oats, but your pancakes really need it.
