Wake up, take the dogs out, feed the dogs, make coffee, go for a run, get ready for work and then… then it’s time for breakfast. Mornings are packed (at least they are for me), and if you’re anything like me, by the time you are ready to eat breakfast, you need to be out the door like 10 minutes ago. While I find myself filling my morning with a thousand things, a lot of my friends are more of roll-out-of-bed-at-the-very-last-minute kind of people. Either way, these little jars filled with fiber, whole grains, and protein are a necessary solution to my weekday mornings. Oh, and they’re really simple.
Take a jar or container of your choice, fill it with 1/3 cup of old-fashioned oats and 1/3 cup of almond milk (or milk of your choice), top with berries and refrigerate over night.
The next morning, just stir with your spoon, and you’ve got a delicious breakfast ready to be devoured. Not a fan of cold oats? Simply place the glass jar in the microwave (without the metal lid!) and nuke for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Easy peasy!
While you can put any of your favorite oat toppings in these jars, here are some of my favorite options.
– 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats + 3/4 cup almond milk + 1/3 cup blueberries + 1/2 teaspoon honey
– 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats + 3/4 cup almond milk + 1/3 cup bananas + 1/2 teaspoon honey + 1 teaspoon peanut butter powder
– 1/3 cup old-fashioned oats + 3/4cup almond milk + 1/3 cup chopped apples + 1/2 teaspoon honey + 1 teaspoon cinnamon
