It’s National Taco Day, and though it doesn’t fall on a Tuesday, we have all the reason we need to celebrate. Here, a few of our favorite tacos for the occasion—some typical, some not so typical. We’ve even thrown in a dessert option.
Wild Mushroom, Flank Steak and Poblano Tacos: This Tex-Mex favorite tastes as good as it looks. Please your family by letting everyone choose their own toppings to add to the tacos.
Blackened Tilapia Baja Tacos: A personal favorite, this one is sure to please everyone at the table—even fish-phobic eaters.
Sautéed Tilapia Tacos with Grilled Peppers and Onion: Another great fish taco idea.
Smoky Tilapia Tacos: Broiling makes this a no-fuss fish dish. The tilapia cooks fast, so make sure all the other components for the taco are ready before you put it under the heat.
Shrimp Tacos with Corn Salsa: We’re not kidding with the honey in this recipe. It adds great texture and flavor.
Blackened Shrimp Tacos: Blackened Shrimp Tacos take a Cajun spin in preparation and flavor.
Double-Layer Beef Tacos: We managed to pull off a lighter version of the fast-food favorite. (And if you ask me, it’s even better!)
Fish Tacos with Tomatillo Sauce: If you’re not on a first-name basis with Tomatillo Sauce, you need to be. You’ll be BFF.
Potato, Poblano, and Chorizo Tacos: You could eat this for breakfast, and we’d never tell.
Ancho Chicken Tacos with Cilantro Slaw and Avocado Cream: Create authentic Mexican-style tacos by cooking the chicken in a mixture of ancho chili powder and cumin and serving over corn tortillas topped with slaw and avocado cream.
Roasted Pork Tenderloin Tacos: A little out of the box, but using pork tenderloin for your taco night is kind of brilliant, we think!
Huevos Rancheros Tacos: Also one of those tacos that could be breakfast or dinner, and we’d love it either way.
Steak Tacos with Lime Mayo: If you didn’t know this yet, adding a squeeze of lime juice, a bit of zest, and some garlic to mayonnaise is the best topping for tacos. Maybe ever.
White Bean and Spinach Tacos: For all you meatless taco fans.
Lemon-Pepper Flank Steak Tacos: This steak is simple to prepare and ready in a flash. The results are flavorful and supermoist.
Cobb Salad Tacos: It’s a salad, but also a taco, but it’s not a taco salad. It’s great is what it is.
Chocolate Tacos with Ice Cream and Peanuts: No National Taco Day is complete with out a chocolate taco! We’re happy to provide the recipe if you’ll save a taco for us!
