It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Most days are good hair days because the air is more brisk and less humid, trees start to display their autumn colors, and fierce football rivalries bring people together for all kinds of good-humored trash talking. I love a good tailgate as much as anyone and understand the importance of bringing great food to the party; you’re representing your team, after all, so you want to make sure your noshes are nothing short of stellar. Here are some definite winners.
Artichoke, Spinach, and White Bean Dip does something wonderfully clever: It substitutes pureed white beans for much of the typical mayo and cream cheese for a lighter version of the classic party dip. The flavor and texture are still fantastic! Serve with pita chips and crudités.
Trust me: Folks go nuts for a platter of deviled eggs. Herb and Crumb Deviled Eggs are an easy make-ahead snack with an irresistible crunchy breadcrumb topping.
Folks also lose their minds over jalapeño poppers. Our Bacon-Stuffed Jalapeños are full of cheesy, meaty goodness.
A sweet option is always a good idea at a fall tailgate. Caramel-Toffee Dip is terrific with apples or graham cracker dunkers, and the Greek yogurt–based dip is less cloyingly sweet than many caramel dips.
While Chocolate Baklava may take a little more effort than these other tailgating favorites, it is absolutely worth it. This is the recipe that will crush your rivals and win you fans everywhere. Trust us; it’s honestly that good. (And you can make it a day ahead.)
